Nigeria | 33 BUA Cement Plc is the result of a merger between CCNN Plc and Obu Cement Company Plc (formerly Obu Cement Company Limited). Cement Company of Northern Nigeria (CCNN) was incorporated in 1962 and commenced operations in 1967, with an installed capacity of 100,000 mtpa at Kalambaina, Sokoto State. Today, with a combined installed capacity of 11mmtpa (Obu plant, 6mmtpa and Kalambaina plant, 5mmtpa), BUA Cement Plc is the largest cement producer in the North-West, South-South and South-East regions of Nigeria. It is also now the secondlargest producer of cement in the country with its commissioning of the 3mtpa line-4 at Sokoto State in January 2022, along with a 50MW gas power plant to increase the captive power available for its operations. Currently, the company is on the verge of making new additions to its output stock with the construction of a 3mtpa plant each in Obu and Sokoto and further supported by a 70MW gas power plant for each, which is expected to raise the installed capacity to 17 mtpa by 2024.
