47 www.ceotodaymagazine.com CEO Today Africa Awards 2018 NIGERIA OLANREWAJU JAIYEOLA CEO of Honeywell Flour Mills PLC FIRM PROFILE Honeywell Flour Mills PLC (HFMP) is a major flour milling company in Nigeria and was initially registered as Gateway Honeywell Flour Mills Limited in 1985. However, in June 1995, a change in the company’s ownership structure led to a change of name to Honeywell Flour Mills Limited (HFML). The entry of the company into the flour milling industry in Nigeria redefined industry standards as its high quality compelled an improvement in the quality of flour products by other players. Over the years HFMP has positioned itself as a market leader in milling, processing & packaging of flour and other wheat based products. Honeywell Flour Mills PLC is part of the Honeywell Group, a foremost indigenous Nigerian conglomerate engaged in select businesses in key sectors of the Nigerian economy, namely Foods & Agro-Allied, Energy, Real Estate, Services, and Infrastructure. HFMP is located on a four hectare land in the Tin Can Island Port Industrial Estate. This strategic location provides for cost efficient receipt of raw materials. The company’s equipment is supplied by Bühler AG of Switzerland. HFMP presently has wheat storage capacity of 72,900 MT while monthly usage varies from 32,000 MT to 40,000 MT. Its finished products warehouse has a capacity to hold about 100,000 bags of 50 kg flour. The company currently operates on a total installed capacity of 2,610 metric tonnes per day. In 2004, Honeywell Flour Mills PLC received the NIS quality award for its Superfine Flour. In 2006, it became the first flour mill in Nigeria to be awarded the NIS ISO 9001:2000 certification in recognition of its quality management systems, covering processes and production. In 2007, the company was also awarded the Mandatory Conformity Assessment Programme (MANCAP) by the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) in recognition of the quality of its Semolina brand. As a result of these awards, the flour and semolina brands carry the NIS ISO 9001:2000 and MANCAP logos respectively as symbols of quality. ABOUT OLANREWAJU JAIYEOLA Mr. Jaiyeola obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Statistics from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria in 1986. He had his professional accountancy training with the international firm of Messrs. Akintola Williams & Co and became a Chartered Accountant in 1990. He acquired relevant accounting experience in reputable organisations before joining the Honeywell Group in 1993. Owing to his versatility, after holding various accounting and finance positions, Mr. Jaiyeola was deployed to head the sales function in 2004. Following excellent results delivered by Mr. Jaiyeola since joining the sale functions, he was promoted Director, Sale Operations in August 2007. He was appointed to the board of directors as the Managing director designate in October 2nd 2013.He was later appointed as the Managing Director/CEO of Honeywell Flour Mills PLC on April 1st 2014. www.honeywellflour.com
